Welcome.... To Neverland
A visit to Neverland must be the ultimate dream coming true for every MJ fan. Michael Jackson purchased this 2700 acre (!!!) estate on May 2, 1988 for million(!!!)
It used to be a ranch for farming dry oats and running cattle. It was originally called as Sycamore Ranch, but when Michael bought it, he renamed it Neverland Valley Ranch, like the magical Never-Neverland from the Disney movie Peter Pan. That is a land where children never grow up to become adults, they will always stay child. "I totally identify with Peter Pan", Michael has once said. Peter Pan, the boy who never grows up... We all know that Michael has never had a childhood and he has never known the fun and freedom of childhood, so he now compensates for that with creating his own magical world where he can be a child. Quotes from Steven Spielberg (Michael's friend and director of giant movies such as Jaws, Jurassic Park and Schindler's List and of course Michael's very own 1997 short film GHOSTS): "From the way he moves, to the Neverland he's created as his home, it's as if he's an illusion" "He's wisely created his own world in which to preserve the most honest parts of his identity."
Neverland Valley Ranch is situated in the Santa Ynez Valley of Los Olivos, California. On Michael's property you can find an amusements park, including a merry-go-round, a giant slide board and a Ferris wheel. Michael has his own zoo; his animals (snakes, elephant, llamas, monkeys, deers..) all have their own habitat to live in.
Michael has his own rail line crossing the property, he has a 5 acre lake with a five-foot waterfall and a stone bridge. There are pretty flowers all around.
The house itself is a Danish-style farmhouse, with brick and masonry walls crossed with wooden beams. There are 17 rooms on the first floor, 16 on the second. The house features a formal dining room, a filled wine cellar, and a fireplace in the master bedroom. Outside the kitchen is a barbecue area with 200 seats. Several new guest wings have been built onto the main split-level home.
The house also features a cinema with cartoons and the latest major films [many of them aren't even officially released yet,Michael gets them all first :)] and an Arcade Video Games hall. There also is a candy store, with FREE candy for everyone.
Michael did not just build these wonderful things for him alone. Every three weeks, hundreds of terminally-ill children come to visit Neverland to have a good time. Michael has built beds into the walls of his house, also in the cinema so that the bedridden children can enjoy the movies too. This shows again how much Michael cares for children. He can give children who spend most of their lifes in hospitals and therefore can't enjoy that precious period in life which is called Childhood, a happy time.
All of these pictures are taken from the June 1993 LIFE magazine (the only magazine Michael liked, and also the only magazine that had the luck to get several photo-sessions with Michael over the years. Unfortunately, the magazine went bankrupt and doesn't exist anymore).

The Gate...
Behind this gate you will find the magical Neverland... Don't get lost in there :) |
Michael on his property
You can see one of the trains where Michael 'travels' with across Neverland, in the background. |

Flowers everywhere!
This is Michael together with a little girl near his house. |
What is he waiting for? :)
In the background you can see some cool attractions, but this is not his 'real' amusements park, that one is bigger.

Michael having fun
Michael totally lightens up as soon as he gets into the rollercoaster :) |
Michael waving
It's Michael in one of his small cars. It would take a lot of time to walk across that property, and Michael prefers being a 'Speed Demon' :)

Michael up in the air
Michael told Oprah in the 1993 interview that he always takes a ride in every attraction everytime he's at Neverland. That would take some time, considering the amount of attractions Michael owns! |
